Stripping Curled Panels & Stud Inspection

Years of direct morning-to-midday sun exposure and driving rain had caused the upper layers of the vertical siding to delaminate and curl along the bottom edges. Screwing curled wood back down or caulking over lifted edges traps moisture in the core. Lasting weatherproofing requires removing compromised sheets back to solid framing.

  • Clean Panel Removal: We tore off the failing center and upper panels back to bare framing to inspect the interior wall studs and verify solid structural condition.
  • Framing Verification: The underlying framing studs were verified in solid shape with zero moisture damage before hanging new panels.
  • Georgia-Pacific Plytanium T1-11: Installed heavy-duty Plytanium T1-11 exterior plywood panels with precision shiplap edges to lock out water infiltration along vertical panel seams.

Reframing Headers & Vinyl Window Installs

The original single-pane wood utility windows had dry-rotted at the sills and muntins. Rather than patching soft wood, we stripped the old units to rebuild solid rough openings and stop future water tracking.

  • Header & Rough Opening Reframing: We rebuilt the rough frames, leveled the sills, and framed new structural headers above each window opening.
  • Single-Hung Vinyl Units: Installed energy-efficient, low-maintenance single-hung vinyl utility windows fastened square into framing.
  • Full Casing & Groove Caulking: Built clean exterior 1x casing trim around every window unit, caulking tightly against the new T1-11 panels and sealing between panel grooves to prevent wind-driven leaks.

Airless Spray, Back-Roll & SuperPaint "Flower Pot"

T1-11 siding has rough-sawn grain and vertical grooved channels that will fail prematurely if paint is only misted onto the surface. We prepped the elevation and applied a heavy-build exterior acrylic coating system designed to withstand extreme UV exposure.

  • Airless Spray & Back-Rolling: Utilizing a commercial airless rig, we sprayed and immediately back-rolled the coating to force primer and paint deep into the vertical shiplap grooves and rough wood texture.
  • SuperPaint Flower Pot Satin: Coated the entire T1-11 body across all elevations in rich Sherwin-Williams Flower Pot satin. SuperPaint's resin expands and contracts with summer heat to resist future blistering.
  • Full Fascia & Trim Repaint: Hand-cut the retrimmed window casings, corner boards, rake boards, and the full perimeter roofline fascia in crisp exterior white for sharp architectural contrast.
