Tearing Out Decay Down to Clean Framing

In mature Eastover neighborhoods, pine straw and heavy oak leaves regularly dam gutter troughs during seasonal downpours. When gutters back up, water spills backward over the sub-fascia, trapping moisture against the wood and rotting the soffit panels from the inside out. Merely spreading filler over soft boards or capping rotted wood with aluminum traps fungal decay against structural rafters.

  • Clean Framing Cut-Outs: We removed deteriorated fascia boards and waterlogged soffits cleanly back to the center of sound, healthy rafter tails.
  • Substrate Verification: The internal structural rafter ends were inspected directly, confirming that moisture intrusion was confined to the perimeter boards.
  • Sub-Fascia Reinforcement: Solid lumber backing was secured along the exposed overhang, establishing a level nailing plane for replacement trim boards.

Custom Plywood Returns & Fastener Sealing

Roof overhang corners and gable rake transitions require custom-fitted carpentry to maintain weather-tight seals. Where the porch eave meets the rake angle under the satellite mount, standard off-the-shelf boards do not fit flush.

  • Custom Return Boxes: We measured and cut custom exterior-grade plywood return boxes, scribing the triangular angles tight against the rake framing.
  • Exterior Primed Wood Trim: Installed new exterior primed fascia boards along the gutter line, fastening flush with galvanized exterior ring-shank nails.
  • Countersunk Fastener Filling: All nail heads and countersunk screw locations were filled with exterior wood filler and spot-primed to prevent water from wicking into fastener points.
  • Elastomeric Seam Caulking: Applied high-flex exterior caulk along all butt joints, mitered corner seams, and soffit-to-frieze transitions.

Full Roofline Painting & Porch Refresh

Spot-painting a three-foot patch on an eave always flashes under sunlight, leaving noticeable sheen differences where old paint meets new. Because our crew manages both the structural carpentry and the finish painting, we coat the entire architectural line.

  • PrimeRx Peel Bonding Barrier: Scraped edges and adjacent weathered trim received Sherwin-Williams PrimeRx to lock down old paint margins before topcoating.
  • End-to-End Paint Blending: We rolled and brushed the entire roofline run continuously with Sherwin-Williams SuperPaint Exterior Acrylic in crisp Gloss White, eliminating break lines.
  • Porch Columns & Railings: Coated the front porch support posts and railings in matching SuperPaint Gloss White, establishing uniform curb appeal against the brick and stone veneer.
